How to apply

In order to apply for Tasmanian Business Skills category visa nomination, follow these steps:

  1. Check your eligibility against DIAC basic requirements before applying for state visa nomination. Information on specific visa requirements is available on the DIAC website
  2. If you are applying for your initial business visa (subclasses 163, 164, 165, 132), you must visit Tasmania in order to undertake business and lifestyle research and conduct due diligence into your chosen business industry. During your visit you are required to meet with staff from the State Business and Skilled Migration Unit to discuss your plans. Please complete a Meeting Request Form (available on the forms and resources page) and return it, along with any supplementary information requested, well in advance of your requested meeting date.
  3. Complete and return the appropriate application form (available via the link below) for the visa you are applying for, along with any supplementary information requested throughout the form.
Once nomination is approved, a Notice of Nomination will be provided outlining the time frame in which a visa application must be lodged. Immediately prior to lodging the completed visa application with DIAC, forward your signed Form 949 to this office for certification. Contact details are available here. Once certified, the form will be returned to you for submission with your visa application.

You can view an example Notice of Nomination here.

Once completed, application forms and the requested attachments are to be submitted here. You will receive an email confirmation that your application has been received. Please do not send any documentation that is not requested; additional information will, if required, be requested via email. The average processing time for applications is two weeks however some cases may take longer due to individual case complexity.

There is no fee for Tasmanian state visa nomination.
