Changes to RSMS program and RCB functionality
As at the 1 July 2012, the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) will implement major changes under the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme which will impact both you and your clients. For more information on these changes, DIAC have provided information here.
One major change is the discontinuation of Form 1054. DIAC will not accept Form 1054 as of 1 July 2012 regardless of it being certified by the RCB prior to that date. Accordingly, the Tasmanian RCB ask you to note the following:
1. Close off dates for the next two RCB Panel meetings have changed. They are
Application submission due for the May 8 meeting: 30 April 2012
Application submission due for the June 12 meeting: 31 May 2012
2. Only completed applications will be accepted for panel assessment
3. While the Tasmanian RCB will make every effort to assess applications submitted by the above dates in a timely manner, applications which require further information may not be finalised before 30 June 2012
4. If you obtained RCB certification before 29 June 2012 but fail to lodge the nomination with DIAC on or before 29 June 2012, you will have to obtain re-certification of the position using the new forms. If this is the case, do not assume that previously certified positions will gain automatic re-approval as RCB assessment standards may change as of 1 July 2012. From that point, all applications will need to be assessed (or re-assessed) against the new criteria.
