Subclass 132 – Significant Business History or Venture Capital Entrepreneur stream

To be eligible to apply for Tasmanian state visa nomination, you must first meet all the business migration requirements set out by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP). State nomination is only one component of your full visa application.

To avoid processing delays, the following documents need to be included with this nomination application:

Significant Business History Stream

  • Business proposal showing 
    • proposed business and / or investment activities
    • location
    • details of any finance
    • amount of anticipated investment
    • Evidence of in depth business research and a realistic business concept.
    • Third party evidence of communication, meetings and/or negotiations with prospective vendors, suppliers and/or buyers.
    • Explaining benefits to Tasmania of proposed business activity (significant benefits if not co-investing in project with established Tasmanian business
  • Evidence of previous exploratory visit(s) to Tasmania
  • Financial statements for the two years prior to application.
  • Resume/Curriculum Vitae of the applicant; and summary of successful business career.
  • Evidence of current overseas business activity and ownership share e.g. recent financial statements, business registration.
  • A current Department of Home Affairs form 1139A - Statement of Assets and Liabilities Position (or similar document).
  • A copy of your passport bio page (the page which shows full details of your name, date of birth, passport number, citizenship, expiry date, etc) for yourself and your dependants.
  • If you are using a migration agent: completed and signed Department of Home Affairs form 956 Advice by a migration agent/exempt person of providing immigration assistance’

If proposing property development:

  • Identification and location of the development
  • Indication of project cost
  • Details of financing (own/debt/other financing)
  • Current Certificate(s) of Title for the subject land
  • Copies of any planning or development approvals
  • Expected commencement and completion dates
  • Explanation of the client's managerial role within the project

Venture Capital Entrepreneur Stream

  • Evidence of a funding agreement with a Venture Capital member of the industry body The Australian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association Limited (AVCAL).
  • Copy of business proposal provided to AVCAL member
  • Statement detailing how the proposed business activity will be of economic benefit to Tasmania
  • Personal CV
  • Evidence of rights to an innovative idea, product or technology (e.g. statement of history of developing the idea, patents, intellectual property, trademarks or other supporting documentation).
  • Evidence of previous exploratory visit(s) to Tasmania
  • A current Department of Home Affairs form 1139A - Statement of Assets and Liabilities Position (or similar document).
  • A copy of your passport bio page (the page which shows full details of your name, date of birth, passport number, citizenship, expiry date, etc) for yourself and your dependants.
  • If you are using a migration agent: completed and signed Department of Home Affairs form 956 Advice by a migration agent/exempt person of providing immigration assistance’

Note that this application form must be completed in English and that there is no fee charged by the Tasmanian Government for visa nomination.

Notices of nomination from the Tasmanian Government are valid for six months, and are not transferable to any other State or Territory.
