Due to the small nomination allocation received this year we are focusing on the highest priority candidates for nomination, those with a gold or green pass.
We aim to invite all green pass ROIs to apply for nomination within eight weeks however due to high levels of interest in subclass 190 nomination this timeframe is currently extended. We expect all subclass 190 nomination places to be used by early May 2024
All subclass 491 ROIs given a green pass are currently being invited within two to three weeks.
If there are nomination places available towards the end of the 2023-24 program year, we may then invite orange pass holders to apply for nomination.

Tasmanian Skilled Employment (long-term employment option) – professional association membership caveats do not apply
Candidates in the subclass 190 Tasmanian Skilled Employment (TOSOL option) pathway who have a skills assessment and employment for ANZSCO groups 2211 Accountants, and 2212 Auditors, Company Secretaries and Corporate Treasurers must have full CPA, CA, IPA, ACCA, CFA, or CIMA membership.
This caveat does not apply to the subclass 190 Tasmanian Skilled Employment (long-term employment option). Candidates registered for this pathway who have a skills assessment and employment for ANZSCO groups 2211 Accountants, and 2212 Auditors, Company Secretaries and Corporate Treasurers must have been employed with a business that has been operating in Tasmania for at least the past three years.
Business operation directly related to study
When claiming business operations that are directly related to your skills assessment or area of Tasmanian study, there must be substantial crossover between the area of business operation, the activities being undertaken in running that business and the duties outlined for the skills-assessed occupation on ANZSCO, or the units studied as part of the qualification.
For example, a candidate with a skills assessment of Accountant, or who is a Master of Professional Accounting graduate, would not be able to claim a direct link to operating a retail shoe sales outlet.
However, a skills assessment as Marketing Specialist or graduation from a marketing course could be reasonably linked to a business focused primarily on marketing.
Skilled vs lower-skilled roles
To claim gold or green attributes related to employment, the role must be consistent with ANZSCO Skill Level 1, 2 or 3.
We will accept employment as skilled if there is at least a 70 per cent match between your role and the description of an occupation classified on ANZSCO as Skill Level 1, 2 or 3.
For the Tasmanian Skilled Graduate and Tasmanian Established Resident pathways there is more flexibility – the match should be at least 40 per cent.
For example, Bookkeepers must be performing a substantial portion of the duties listed on ANZSCO for 551211 Bookkeeper.
Any roles that consist substantially of administrative support will not be accepted as skilled roles.
