Angie Wu, International Student Advisor, TasTAFE

“Tasmania has always given me a sense of being at home. Living in Tasmania makes me feel relaxed and happy. The beauty, the food, the rich art and culture and the easy lifestyle are enough to keep me away from worry and stress.”

Driven by her interest in meeting new people and developing a successful career in international education and learning services, Angie moved to Tasmania at the beginning of 2018 to study a Master of Business Administration (International) at the University of Tasmania (UTAS).

Angie drew on her own experience as a migrant and previous Australian work experience to secure part-time employment as a Student Support Officer while studying. This enabled her to build a professional network and to realise her goal of becoming part of the rapidly growing international education industry.

Angie encourages more international students to consider studying and living in Tasmania. She describes Tasmania as offering “insanely beautiful places, decent-paying jobs with less competition and all the while providing a supportive multicultural community.”

Angie’s favourite thing about living in Tasmania is the diverse wildlife and the opportunity to visit beautiful beaches. Angie also loves Tasmania’s festivals including Dark Mofo, Mona Foma and the Taste of Tasmania.
