All occupations are eligible for these pathways.
Subclass 190 - Tasmanian Established Resident Pathways (TER)
You must have lived in Tasmania for at least the last three years, with no more than 50 per cent of that time spent in other Australian states or territories, intend to continue living in Tasmania and either:
- be working in a role with a Tasmanian-based employer that paid at least $57,000 per year or $28.85 per hour (excluding overtime, penalties, bonuses or casual loading), with at least 12 months of work in the last two years (minimum 20 hours/week).
- be working in a role that paid at least the National Minimum Wage but less than $57,000 per year or $28.85 per hour, with at least 18 months of work in the last 3 years (minimum 20 hours/week).
- have undertaken remote work for the immediate past 12 months while residing in Tasmania, for an employer or clients located outside the state, earning at least $57,000 per year or $28.85 per hour (excluding overtime, penalties, bonuses or casual loading).
- You must have operated a business in Tasmania for at least the past two years, generating a minimum personal income equal to the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (currently $76,515), with the business also achieving a net profit of at least that amount.
The following attributes are used to rank Registrations of Interest. Only the most competitive candidates are invited to apply for nomination.
To qualify for gold, green or orange-plus priority attributes, your employment must meet the $57,000/year or $28.85/hour salary threshold (excluding overtime, penalty rates or casual loading).
Candidates with at least one orange-plus priority attribute are considered a high priority. After Gold and Green pass holders, they will be the first Orange pass candidates invited to apply for nomination.

When applying for nomination, documentation must be supplied to support the claims made in the Registration of Interest (ROI) and application for nomination. If you do not supply these documents your application might be declined.
You must read and understand the minimum nomination requirements before preparing the documents listed below. In addition to the documents you upload with your application:
- Migration Tasmania may request additional documents or information. People or organisations listed in the application, including education providers, employers and real estate agents, may also be contacted to confirm the information you provide.
- After lodging the application, you can submit additional documents until the application has been assigned to a case officer, or after a case officer requests further information.
- All information you provide must be current, true and correct.
- Where documentation or information is found to be false or misleading, the application will be declined, and details are likely to be passed on to other relevant agencies such as the Department of Home Affairs.
- Skills assessments and English tests must be current at time of nomination. If they are not, the Department of Home Affairs may refuse the visa application.
Mandatory documents
- Passport (Bio-Data page).
- SkillSelect Expression of Interest (EOI) including the personal, educational or employment details referred to in the Registration of Interest and nomination application.
- Skills assessment issued by the relevant assessing body for your stated occupation. Must be dated within the last three years.
- English language report (English proficiency test result) dated within the last three years. If you hold a passport issued by the United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, United States of America, or Republic of Ireland and do not need to complete an English language test for your skilled visa please attach a copy of your passport bio data page.
- Curriculum vitae (CV)/resume which includes all study and employment from the last 10 years.
- Travel itinerary to Tasmania demonstrated by airline or Spirit of Tasmania tickets showing date of permanent arrival in Tasmania.
- Evidence of living in Tasmania since permanent arrival, demonstrated by rental agreements or a statutory declaration listing all addresses and dates of stay since arrival in Tasmania (which also lists all household tenants).
- Bank statements that show spending on living expenses in Tasmania and any pay or salary deposits since the date you arrived. The statements must be on official bank letter head, clearly showing the account number and account holder’s name, and be free of highlighting or any other changes.
- Department of Home Affairs Official International Movement Record showing travel to and from Australia. You can request the document from Home Affairs.
For applicants making employment claims:
- Current and previous employment contract and employment confirmation letter signed and dated by the employer outlining pay, conditions and position duties.
- Signed Employer Statutory Declaration form (PDF 754.8 KB).
- Pay slips covering the duration of your employment.
- Australian Taxation Office (ATO) income statement for all employment claims.
- Payslips covering the duration of all employment claims.
- Superannuation Fund transaction statement for the period of any employment you are claiming. The statements must clearly show all employer contributions be on official fund letter head, and clearly show the account number and account holder’s name.
- Australian Taxation Office (ATO) income statement for all employment claims.
- Evidence that your pay and conditions are consistent with local market rates. All employment must comply with the Fair Work Ombudsman’s National Employment Standards, with pay and conditions no less than those of Australian citizens or permanent residents in comparable roles, and consistent with current local market rates.
This can be demonstrated by reference to the relevant enterprise agreement or industrial awards, including the applicable salary level, or if none applies, we will accept:
- job advertisements from the past six months for comparable positions in the same region on websites such as Seek, Indeed, CareerOne, and either:
- Salary survey data from Hays Guides or SmartMatch,
- Information from Jobs and Skills Australia’s Jobs and Skills Atlas
Where no enterprise agreement or industrial award exists, the higher salary from the submitted job ads or the salary survey/market insights will be relied upon to determine the applicable market rate.
For applicants claiming business operations:
- Business registration and operational evidence as follows:
- ABN/ASIC certificate.
- Current Company Extract (https://connectonline.asic.gov.au)
- Business bank and personal bank transaction statements for 12 months of most recent operations.
- Business Activity Statements (BAS) for the duration of business operation claimed.
- ATO Income Statement as evidence of personal income claimed from the business.
- Australian Taxation Office annual Notice of Assessment and Lodgement confirmation
- Statement of Distribution if operating as partnership with spouse.
- Photographic evidence of business location and operations.
Additional supporting documents
The following documents are not mandatory but may help support claims. Applicants can upload the following documents in support of those claims.
- Evidence of sponsoring employer support: If currently holding a Temporary Skill Shortage or Skills in Demand visa (subclass 482) and worked less than 12 months with their Tasmanian-based sponsoring employer.
- Outstanding Tasmanian debts and payment plan summary: This is required if you have an outstanding debt that is signed and witnessed.
- Declaration of nomination obligations: Required if application has been submitted by a Migration Agent.
- Appointment of a registered migration agent legal practitioner or exempt person Form 956 (PDF): Required if application has been submitted by a Migration Agent.
- Personal statement that is a maximum one-page summary of your current situation and intentions. It is very important to include this where your ties to Tasmania are unclear, you have lived in another part of Australia for a more than 2 years before moving to Tasmania or your family members are overseas or have only recently joined you.
Include the following points:
- Why do you want to live in Tasmania?
- What community support is available to help you settle?
- What career, business prospects or opportunities do you have in Tasmania?
- Which family members settling with you. Where are they? When did they arrive in Tasmania? Are they currently studying or working?
- If your spouse/partner or any dependents are currently overseas, explain why.
- If they have recently moved to Tasmania from another Australian state or territory, explain what they intend to do in Tasmania.
- Tasmanian drivers’ license.
- Evidence of job offers and interviews unless previously listed as required
- Adult dependant's passport bio-data page.
- Adult dependant's current resume.
- Dependant child/children passports bio-data pages.
- Adult dependant's skills assessment if available.
- Adult dependant's employment contract if claiming dependent employment priority attributes.
- Evidence of marriage, dependant relationship if claiming to meet dependant-related priority attributes. Adult dependant must be included in Expression of Interest on SkillSelect.
Subclass 491 - Tasmanian Established Resident Pathways (TER)
