Cao Minh Nguyen, Accountant, University of Tasmania

“If you are a hard-working person with the right skills and knowledge, there is no doubt that you will find your success in Tasmania.”

After completing his bachelor’s degree in Victoria, Cao visited Tasmania and quickly fell in love with the heart-shaped island. He believes that Tasmania has a very peaceful and zen vibe, unlike the rush and stress of big city life. Cao spends his weekends travelling to national parks for hiking and camping.

“In Tasmania you find the freshest air on Earth (Cape Grim Peninsula), world’s largest privately-owned lavender farm (Bridestowe), largest tulip fields in the Southern Hemisphere that you can actually wander in (Table Cape), and many UNESCO World Heritage sites (Cradle Mountain, Mount Field, Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers, Hartz Mountains and Mole Creek Karst). If you love to spend time outdoors, Tasmania is the place to live.”

Cao chose to study a Master of Business Administration at University of Tasmania (UTAS) due to the highly regarded Tasmanian School of Business and Economics. In early 2020 he landed his first professional job with UTAS as a Graduate Accountant and has been working there ever since. He is also proud to be part of UTAS’s mission to improve the future for all Tasmanians via higher education and its commitment to climate action.

He strongly believes that Tasmania is a land of opportunities for migrants. In contrast to the belief some have that Tasmania is a slow-growth state, Cao has seen rapid development in Tasmania since his arrival in 2018. He believes that Tasmania will evolve more in the future and the state will need a significant number of migrants to fill skilled roles.
